This project was developed for the Game Design & Programming course during the second semester of my EduTech master’s program at Saarland University. “The Mathemagician: A Forest Number Adventure” is a multiplayer puzzle platformer designed to enhance collaboration skills and mathematical competency in children ages 6-8. The game combines collaborative gameplay with math puzzles to foster curiosity and create a fun learning experience. Players work together to solve equations by collecting numbers and operators, progressing through increasingly challenging levels as they journey towards a castle occupied by an evil mathemagician.

Key Contributions

  • Story and Character Development:
Co-created the story, characters, and overall game mechanics, ensuring they were engaging and appropriate for the target age group.

  • Level Design:
Designed levels that incorporate mathematical equations, with increasing difficulty as players progress. Ensured the levels were challenging yet achievable, promoting both learning and enjoyment.

  • Game Mechanics:
Developed innovative game mechanics that encourage collaborative problem-solving and teamwork among players.

  • Prototype Development:
Created a detailed prototype showcasing the core gameplay elements, including level progression, math puzzles, and collaborative tasks.
